Editorial policy
Google's search quality guidelines talk about experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust. This page is our attempt to put ours in writing so you can judge it for yourself.
#Every recipe is cooked before it is published
No recipe goes live until it has been made in a domestic kitchen, portioned into containers, refrigerated or frozen, and eaten on the day it is supposed to be eaten. That is the only way to know whether the rice is still edible on day four.
Where we say a session takes a certain amount of time, that is measured with a timer, from taking ingredients out to closing the last lid — including washing up.
#Every product is used before it is reviewed
We do not write round-ups from specification sheets. Gear is bought, used for at least two full weeks of normal cooking, and put through the things that actually break it: dishwashers, freezers, microwaves, and being dropped.
When we have not tested something, we say so explicitly rather than implying otherwise.
#Numbers we publish
Nutrition. Calculated per portion from standard food composition data. Estimates, and labelled as such.
Costs. Based on mainstream supermarket prices at the time of writing, per portion. Prices move; we re-check the popular plans periodically.
Storage times. Conservative rather than optimistic, and aligned with general food safety guidance. Where a dish keeps less well than people expect, we say so.
#Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do:
- We fix the error as soon as it is confirmed.
- We add a dated note at the top of the article if the correction is material — a changed temperature, timing or safety instruction.
- We do not quietly delete articles to hide mistakes.

#Updates
Food content ages. Articles are reviewed on a rolling basis and the "updated" date at the top of an article reflects a genuine review, not a cosmetic change made to look fresh in search results.
#Independence
Advertisers and affiliate partners have no editorial input. No brand sees an article before publication. No product earns a better placement because it pays a higher commission. Our full commercial arrangements are set out in the affiliate disclosure.
#AI use
Illustrations on this site are generated programmatically from original vector code written for Today Meal Prep — they are not stock photos and carry no third-party licensing. Where AI tools assist with drafting or research, the output is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a human before publication, and recipes are cooked regardless.
